DPIPWE Libraries



The DPIPWE Library Service supports the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment, the Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research as well as part of the Department of Justice. There are three main branches:

Collection Strengths

Hobart:  Environmental Management, Land and Water Management, Natural and Cultural Heritage, Park Management, GIS & Mapping.

New Town and Launceston:  Primary Industries, Veterinary Science, Biosecurity, Land and Water Management, Aquaculture and/or Fisheries.

Access

Students, members of the public and employees of other departments may use the library service but may not borrow, except on inter-library loan. There is a fee for photocopying.  

Hours of Opening

Hobart: 
9 am - 5 pm daily

New Town:
9 am - 5 pm (Tue -Thurs)

Launceston:
9 am - 4 pm daily

If you plan to use the New Town (6233 6854), Launceston (6336 5241) or Devonport (6421 7620) branches, please confirm opening hours before visiting.
