Fish for the Future

Fish for the Future describes the aims of the Department. We all need to look after our fisheries and fish habitats so that there will be fish in the sea for many years to come:

Fish forever - for our children and their children's children.
Fish for commercial purposes - for jobs and wealth for Tasmanians.
Fish for food.
Fish for fun and recreation.
And fish just to enjoy!

Fish safely and responsibly so we can have fish for the future.

How can you help?

Fish responsibly - only take what you need for a feed; and
Help others to fish responsibly by becoming a Fishcare Volunteer.
