Forms & Permits

The following forms and permits relate to activities and services of the Department's Resource Management and Conservation Division. Please print the form required, complete as instructed, and return to the address indicated on the form.

Public Notice - Collection of Flora and Fauna - Restricted Access on Macquarie Island as at November 2005

In accordance with Section 37 of the National Parks and Reserves Management Act 2002, Macquarie Island Nature Reserve (including its surrounding waters to 3 nautical miles) is declared a Restricted Area to which the public has not a general right of access. Pursuant to Regulation 11 of the National Parks and Reserved Land Regulations 1999, a person must not enter or remain in the reserve unless the person is granted authority by the Director, or the person is accompanied by an authorised person. Special Management Areas are declared from year to year to further protect vulnerable species, vegetation communities or sites extremely vulnerable to human disturbance.

Scientific Permits (Fauna)
Application form and guidelines for permits to take and/or possess fauna for scientific purposes. Also, research applications currently available for public comment.

Taking Native Fauna (Non-Scientific)
Application form for permits to take and/or possess fauna as a result of development activities.

Geoscientific Collection Permits
The collection of any earth materials (minerals, rock, soil, fossils etc.) from public land generally requires a permit.

Taking Native Flora - Guidelines/Permit Application
Details when a permit is required for the taking of native flora, plus what other permits, approvals and/or licences may be necessary.

Bird Species Movement - Notification Form
This form is used to notify of the transfer, purchase, sale, breeding, death and/or receipt of protected bird species.

Commercial Wallaby Hunter's Licence
This licence authorises the shooting of wallabies during designated seasons and the sale of any resulting products to licensed premises.

Crown Land Hunting Document
From the 31 August 2011, the Crown Land Hunting document is no longer available or applicable. From 1 September 2011 replacing it if required (by a client) is a Firearm Licence Holders Permission Document

Firearm Licence Holders Permission Document
This application form is to be used if you are applying to the Commissioner of Police for a firearms licence under the Firearms Act 1996, and your genuine reason for possessing and/or using a firearm is recreational hunting or vermin control. The Permission Document that will result from this application when issued, will give permission to shoot specified game and vermin on land specified in the document, subject to conditions. The Permission Document that will be issued is for the purpose of satisfying Section 39 of the Firearms Act 1996, requirements relating to recreational hunting or vermin control.

Herpetology Permit - Application Form
Use this form to apply for a herpetology permit (collection of reptiles and frogs).

Hunting Licences
Game licences authorise the taking of game, i.e. deer, wild duck, mutton-bird (non-commercial), wallaby (non-commercial), brown quail and pheasant during open seasons.

Import/Export Permit of Wildlife
Use this form to apply for a permit to allow the import and export of approved wildlife and wildlife products from interstate (but not overseas).

Permit to Take Brushtail Possums
This permit allows the hunter to take brushtail possums on specified properties and sell the meat and skins to licensed premises.

Renewal of Protected Bird Species Permit
Application form to renew a permit for protected species. All bird species currently in the permit holder's possession are to be entered on this form.

Threatened Species Nomination Form
Form for submitting nominations of species to the Scientific Advisory Committee for the inclusion on, change in status, or deletion from, the Schedules of the Threatened Species Protection Act 1995.

Waterfowl Identification Test Application Form
Persons who wish to obtain a licence to shoot wild duck must first attend a training course and pass a Waterfowl Identification Test. Successful applicants are issued with a Certificate of Proficiency.
